Roy Upton founded AHP in 1995 to bring the knowledge base of herbal medicine into one monograph system as a way to allay consumer and practitioner fears about using herbal medicines and to rebuild our cultural knowledge base about the value of herbal medicine to individual, community, societal, and environmental health. Roy serves as Executive Director and Editor of AHP.
John Cardellina II PhD

John Cardellina is a specialist in all aspects of natural products chemistry and served at the National Cancer Institute for 14 years, the Council for Responsible Nutrition for almost five years, and was a distinguished scientist at McCormick & Co., Inc. for almost three years. He is also past President of the American Society for Pharmacognosy (ASP); is currently a collaborator in the Botanical Adulterants Prevention Program of the American Botanical Council (ABC), AHP, and National Center for Natural Products Research (NCNPR); and serves as Chair of the Board of AHP and Chair of the ASP Foundation.
Staci Eisner is an expert on botanical ingredient Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) for dietary supplements and one of the most active members on numerous committee initiatives of AHPA.
Michael McGuffin is President of the American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) and has played a leadership role in almost all aspects of herbal product quality and regulation over the past 15 years.
Joe Pizzorno is a naturopathic physician and was co-founder with Les Griffith ND and Sheila Quinn and past President of Bastyr University, Kenmore, WA. It is fair to say that it was Joe that brought naturopathic medicine into the 21st century, integrating it into community health care in a way not previously manifested in the US.
